The Debbie Allen Dance Academy (DADA) is a non-profit organization that has been in existence since 2001, and is committed to expanding the reach of dance and theater arts for young people. Debbie Allen has worked with many notable names including Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Anthony Hopkins, Whitney Houston, Will Smith, Mariah Carey, Shirley MacLaine, James Earl Jones, Queen Latifah, Sammy Davis Jr., just to name a few, as well as film and television credits at Disney, Nickelodeon, ABC, NBC, CBS, and MTV. Debbie is also the current judge on FOX's summer hit dance competition, So You Think You Can Dance.
With more than a decade of successful shows under its belt, DADA is now gearing up to make more noise in 2014 with one of the production’s popular musicals, BOTK. BOTK will not only give the community something to talk about, it will help fund scholarships and offer opportunities for local youth to showcase their talent and perform with a professional cast. This “education through entertainment” method is our team’s way of giving back!
Students who have worked with DADA have:
- Graduated from Alvin Ailey’s Dance Program at Fordham University, North Carolina School of Performing Arts, as well as Pepperdine University, Boston Conservatory, and the University of Southern California to name a few.
- Choreographed for Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake and the Black Eyed Peas.
- Performed at the famous Kirov and Bolshoi Ballet Academies.
- Starred in many sold-out musical and plays from Broadway and Paris to Australia and the west-end of London.
